Long-time UTM Prof. Jerry Melbye has passed away. He was an important figure in Canadian Biological Anthropology and a brief summary of his career can be found here. His son posted the following on his Facebook page: "Dear Friends, we are deeply saddened to share news of Dr. Jerry Melbye’s passing on March 4th 2017 following heart complications, peacefully in his own California paradise, and alongside those he loved. Jerry is remembered for having impacted the lives of countless. He is remembered as a pioneering professor and researcher in the field of Forensic Anthropology. He is remembered as a caring husband to his incredible wife, Vicky Melbye. He is remembered as a friend who loved to share stories be it about work, travel, or family. He is remembered as a father and grandfather who was never too busy to take his kids camping, skiing, or to a hockey game. And, he is remembered as an intelligent and kind man who made the world a better place and who lived a full and accomplished life. Our lives will never be the same without you, Jerry. With love."
